About The Position

The Coder I Specialist codes ER's and/or outpatients records. This is a part-time position requiring a minimum of 20 hours per week and experience as an IP Coder. The role involves coding emergency room and outpatient records, working CCI/medical necessity edits, monitoring unbilled accounts, and maintaining quality and productivity standards. The position requires independent judgment in planning operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical field. The Coder Specialist I will interact with internal and external customers and other healthcare professionals.

Requirements

• Experienced IP Coder.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Coder from accredited program.
• Score of 80% or above on the outpatient coding exam.
• 0-6 months work experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Basic ICD 10 training and anatomy and physiology.
• Demonstrated PC and Software proficiency.

Nice To Haves

• CCS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Codes ER's and /or outpatients.
• Works CCI/medical necessity edits as needed.
• Monitors unbilled for ER's/outpatients ensuring all accounts are coded on a day-to-day basis.
• Maintains quality equal to or greater than 95%.
• Maintains productivity equal to or greater than 95%.
• Completes continuing education as required.
