A skilled level position with expert knowledge of medical and clinical terminology and disease processes as it relates to Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology. Utilizes appropriate coding conventions to assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes. Experience in coding for an acute care hospital setting with highly complex and specialized CVIR procedures such as - Diagnostic angiography, percutaneous vascular interventions, non-vascular interventions, diagnostic cardiac catheterization, basic coronary arterial interventions, pacemakers, etc. Strong attention to detail to reduce coding and billing errors by way of reconciling charges and coding discrepancies between HIM and clinical departments. Can effectively problem solve and communicate with peers, auditing staff, management and physicians verbally or written. Stays current with ICD-10 CM and CPT-4 coding guidelines and maintains continuing education hours. Must maintain minimum quality and productivity standards.
