Code Enforcement Officer I

City of Madera•Police Department, CA

About The Position

Under general supervision, the Code Enforcement Officer I assists with inspecting residential dwellings and commercial buildings to identify violations and citing and enforcing provisions of the City Municipal Code and California Health and Safety Code. The position recommends neighborhood improvements related to unsafe and substandard buildings and performs other related duties as required. This is the entry-level classification in the Code Enforcement Officer series. The role differs from Code Enforcement Officer II in the complexity of work and degree of independence. Advancement to Code Enforcement Officer II may occur upon meeting that classification’s employment standards, receiving a Department Head recommendation, and obtaining City Manager approval.
