About The Position

Performs a variety of administrative and research work of moderate difficulty relating to code compliance of the adopted code of ordinances and other rules and regulations through field inspections and investigative work. Performs certificate of use/Business Tax Receipts (BTRs) inspections. Work is performed under limited supervision with moderate latitude. Position relies on experience and exercises independent judgment to determine the best approach by using and interpreting policies and procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Three or more years’ experience in code enforcement.
An equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience beyond high school diploma or GED and difficult public contact.
Must have a valid Florida driver’s license with satisfactory driving record throughout employment.
National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification (level to be determined by job classification requirements) or obtain within one year of employment.
Applicants are required to sign an affidavit for non-use of tobacco products in order to be considered for employment.

Nice To Haves

An Associate’s degree or 60 college credits in public administration, construction management or a related field preferred.
One (1) year experience conducting certificate of use inspections is preferred.
Florida Association of Code Enforcement (F.A.C.E.) code enforcement certifications (Levels 1 and 3) preferred.
F.A.C.E. Level 1 must be obtained within one year of employment and must be maintain throughout employment.

Responsibilities

Performs certificate of use/Business Tax Receipts (BTRs) inspections.
Conducting inspections
Reviewing plans
Processing code enforcement, building/zoning or business tax receipt documentation.
