About The Position

The purpose of this position is to perform entry-level inspection and enforcement work in the Property Maintenance Division of the department. Under general supervision, the employee investigates and conducts initial and follow-up inspections on residential and commercial properties within Jefferson Parish for zoning ordinance violations, garbage/trash violations; and for general property maintenance relative to the International Property Maintenance Code. Prepares inspection reports in accordance with department requirements, policies, and procedures. Records conditions that constitute a code violation and reports them to the appropriate department for further inspection/investigation/violation of applicable codes. Performs related duties as required. Drives to and from various locations throughout Jefferson Parish to perform job tasks; will require working on both banks of the river as needed.

Requirements

• Possession of high school diploma or GED
• One (1) year of field work experience receiving, documenting, and responding to community/customer complaints.
• OR Two (2) years of work experience involving extensive public contact.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license
• Acceptable driving record
• Personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use

• Personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.
