About The Position

Ampcus Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Cobol / Mainframe Developer to join their talented team. This role involves working within Card Management Systems and requires strong experience with Mainframe, Cobol Programming, and JCL. The developer will be responsible for handling backend business logic and must have hands-on coding experience. Experience in the Payment Transactions or Debit Transactions area is a plus, as is previous client experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent experience.
  • 8 years of software development engineering experience.
  • Working knowledge in Linux, UNIX & z/OS operating systems.
  • Proficient with Mainframe Development as well as modern Object-Oriented development.
  • Ability to develop in both a legacy Mainframe TSO environment and also a modern server/container environment using common IDE’s and development tools.
  • Knowledge and experience in transformation/modernization of processing high volumes of data via Mainframe processing to scalable On-prem Distributed or Cloud processing via microservices and containers.
  • Knowledge of File Transmission (FTP/NDM) & batch processing in very high-volume settings is required.
  • Experience in technical design writing and documentation.
  • Strong unit testing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in Financial Services industry.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Payment Transactions or Debit Transactions area.
  • Previous Client experience.
  • Knowledge of event driven architecture and common event processing models and platforms is desired.
  • Familiarity in microservice architectures and containers (Kubernetes/K8s, OpenShift, Docker) a plus.
  • Familiarity in processing in a cloud (Azure, AWS) environment a plus.
  • Familiarity in Domain Driven Design a plus.

Responsibilities
