Cobb is seeking a Laying House Worker to attend to and care for hens and roosters, and inspect eggs for quality and fitness for incubation. This role involves a variety of duties including feeding, watering, and weighing birds according to schedules, as well as extensive cleaning and disinfection of waterers, nest pads, walls, ceilings, and the egg room. The worker will be responsible for recording detailed information such as egg numbers, bird weight, medications, feed intake, and mortality, and observing/grading egg quality according to Cobb standards. A significant portion of the role involves picking up eggs from the floor and recording the number of eggs laid by each hen. Additional responsibilities may include inspecting poultry for diseases, removing weak, ill, or injured birds, monitoring feed, water, lighting, and ventilation systems, performing sanitation tasks for breakrooms and vehicles, house set-up for new birds, and properly euthanizing weak, ill, or injured birds in accordance with company policy. The position requires strict adherence to biosecurity and animal welfare requirements, including showering and changing clothes before entering the facility, and avoiding contact with other avian species. Cobb offers a comprehensive benefits package, eligible from day one of full-time employment, and competitive pay starting at $18.00 per hour, plus additional shift differential for evenings, nights, and weekends.
