About The Position

At MasTec Communications Group, the Coax Splicer works as part of a team of construction professionals to produce high-quality work and help expand technology for communities. The role involves upgrading existing plant, plant extensions, and new building construction, with a focus on safety and quality service. The Coax Splicer performs splicing, activations, testing, and troubleshooting of coaxial cable systems. Work takes place at outdoor utility construction sites and may involve aerial and underground cable.

Requirements

At least 1–3 years of splicing and sweeping experience.
Comfort working on a ladder or in a bucket truck.
A valid driver's license and ability to obtain a DOT medical card for driving purposes.
Must meet company standards for a safe driving record, subject to an MVR review.
A safety-minded approach to work.
Problem-solving ability and comfort with hands-on work.
A track record of completing work to a high level of quality.
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts with overtime.

MOS codes B05A, 3D157, 6423, or 5699 relate well to this position.

Responsibilities

Splice, sweep, and troubleshoot existing aerial and underground coaxial cable.
Optimize new nodes and splice in node splits to reduce capacity.
Use RF meters and time-domain reflectometers (TDRs).
Read CATV telecommunication designs and prints.
Work at outdoor utility construction sites.
Perform splicing, activations, testing, and troubleshooting as part of a construction team.
