About The Position

BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions (ECMS) is seeking entry-level engineers from all disciplines to support its 24/7 Light Duty Coating operations in Huntsville, AL. The Light Duty plant produces emissions catalysts for gasoline combustion engines, with operations divided into Slurry Prep and Coating areas. The Coating area involves applying catalytic slurry to substrates to create catalyst units for vehicle exhaust systems. This process relies heavily on mechanics, automation, fluid dynamics, and process safety management. Ideal candidates will have concentrations in Mechanical, Automation, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering
  • Strong communication skills
  • MS Office experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide 24/7 technical support to the Coating Production lines from the manufacturing floor, acting as a technical point of contact for on-shift production issues.
  • Collaborate with Shift Supervisors to ensure lines are safe and efficiently meet target goals for productivity and scrap.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve real-time production issues by working closely with operators and support functions.
  • Coordinate issue resolution between the Operations group and technical support teams such as Maintenance, Automation, Quality, and Process Engineering.
  • Communicate process issues and updates to Manufacturing Engineers and Operations Leadership to ensure timely solutions and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Act as a visible leader on the floor, setting examples for operators by ensuring strict adherence to process and occupational safety standards.
  • Document issues and provide supporting information for problem-solving.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact within production, observing issues and implementing necessary changes.
  • Support EHS activities and processes, and lead or participate in investigations and corrective actions.
  • Review production data to understand performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement activities in accordance with LEAN manufacturing methodologies by fostering innovation and driving change.
  • Train technical team members and support training processes with required technical subject matter.
