About The Position

The Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and implementing cost-effective manufacturing processes that consistently meet product specifications, quality standards, and business objectives. Serving as a key liaison between R&D, Engineering, and Operations, this role drives the advancement of PTFE-coated fabric processes while supporting new product introduction and continuous improvement initiatives. Working directly within the plant environment, the Process Engineer identifies opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and process capability, reduce waste, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards. This role plays a critical part in advancing operational excellence and supporting the company’s continued growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Materials, Polymer, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 2-5 years of manufacturing or engineering experience preferred; internships, co-ops, and project experience considered.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles; coursework or project experience accepted.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems; M1experience is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with Excel coding or advanced Excel functions.
  • Experience with fluoropolymers, dip coating, calendaring, or flexible composites.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with product design and design for manufacturability (DFM)

Responsibilities

  • Optimize PTFE coating processes, troubleshoot material behavior, and reduce scrap.
  • Improve throughput, product quality, quality, and labor and material costs
  • Develop and troubleshoot manufacturing processes, tooling, materials and processes into manufacturing.
  • Improve workflow and work cell efficiency using Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Develop process controls, inspections, testing, and validation methods to ensure product quality.
  • Investigate customer issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide production testing, labor estimates, and mater usage data to support cost analysis.
  • Develop and maintain SOP’s, Work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Train operators and manufacturing staff on processes, product requirements, and safe equipment operation.
  • Maintain product specifications and ensure production documentation is accurate and current.
  • Maintain ERP data, including part numbers, routings, bills of materials, and production standards.
