About The Position

3M is seeking Coating Operator candidates in Rockland, MA! Our plant operates 24/7 so we have multiple shifts available, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, 12-hour shifts, etc. This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. As a Coating Operator, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by ensuring the efficient setup and production of quality material on their assigned coating line. You will be responsible for coordinating job changeovers, monitoring the master control panel, and accurately recording and entering production data, including test results. You will also provide guidance and instruction to personnel on the line as needed, and complete all required production reports and quality data entries utilizing PMCS/OPRA and designated software. You will review the Manufacturing Order schedule and prepare/plan for upcoming production runs, and lead and coordinate production runs to meet targets based on job specifications and work instructions. Promoting and maintaining a safe working environment at all times and maintaining housekeeping at machine areas according to established standards are also key aspects of this role. You will master all controls and consoles related to the whole operation on the line and be proficient in web handling and alignment, coat weight variables, tension control, all coating methods, NDC scanners, web drying settings, and safety controls. You will also monitor and document productivity results as well as reasons for misses utilizing designated tools.

Requirements

  • Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher completed and verified prior to start
  • Minimum one (1) year of plant and/or manufacturing experience in a public, private, government, or military environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the efficient setup and production of quality material on their assigned coating line
  • Responsible for coordinating job changeovers, monitoring the master control panel, and accurately recording and entering production data, including test results
  • Provide guidance and instruction to personnel on the line as needed
  • Complete accurately and in a timely manner, all required production reports and quality data entries utilizing PMCS/OPRA and designated software
  • Review Manufacturing Order schedule and prepare/plan for upcoming production runs
  • Lead and coordinate production runs to meet targets based on job specifications and work instructions
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment at all times
