About The Position

The Coater Operator ensures scheduled orders are completed according to specifications and procedures established by Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, R&D, and Engineering. The role maintains safety, quality, and production at or above established standards while working in a team environment. The position is located at Preferred Finishing SC in Blacksburg, South Carolina, and is a full-time day-shift role scheduled Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The operator performs quality and standard checks, supports scheduled die changes, completes required documentation, and conducts troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and safety inspections. The position also involves maintaining production inventories and organized work areas, communicating with coworkers, and participating in continuous-improvement activities.

Requirements

• High degree of manual dexterity.
• Ability to work as a team member.
• Ability to read length measurements, gauges, and meters.
• Knowledge of production schedules.
• Basic math, computer, and data-entry skills.
• Ability to follow work instructions, safety rules, and specifications with great attention to detail.
• May be required to obtain a tow-motor license.

Responsibilities

• Use logbooks to document issues that occur during the shift.
• Be indirectly responsible for the safety of crewmembers.
• Perform quality and standard checks.
• Participate in die changes as scheduled.
• Complete required data sheets.
• Perform troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and safety inspections.
• Follow “Red Tag” procedures when required.
• Follow all safety rules when entering the manufacturing facility.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas.
• Maintain inventories needed for production runs.
• Communicate and share knowledge with operators and coworkers.
• Suggest ways to reduce costs, improve safety, or improve products or processes.
• Participate in S4 continuous-improvement team meetings and projects.
