Requirements

  • Masters's degree in Civil, Coastal, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering; required
  • 0–2 years of experience with coastal engineering, stormwater, floodplain, or site civil engineering
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
  • Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hire
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
  • Availability and willingness to travel

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship experience preferred
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred
  • AutoCAD or MicroStation experience preferred
  • HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, ADCIRC, SWAN, or other hydraulic/hydrodynamic modeling experience highly desired
  • MATLAB experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform preliminary and detailed engineering design tasks for coastal and water resources engineering projects, including: Coastal protection and resilience design (beach nourishment, revetments, seawalls, living shorelines), Stormwater management and drainage infrastructure permitting and design, Stormwater hydrology and hydraulics, Watershed assessment and planning, Urban flood risk and floodplain management, Low impact development / green infrastructure
  • Perform 1D and 2D riverine and coastal hydraulic/hydrodynamic modeling
  • Perform numerical modeling in support of stormwater, drainage, and coastal improvement projects
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates in support of final bid packages
  • Participate in design activities and meetings between project team members, subcontractors, and client managers
  • Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, feasibility, cost, construction approaches, and scheduling performance
  • Prepare written and graphic reports and make presentations
  • Under direction, prepare various draft documents, including reports and technical memoranda
