About The Position

The Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) is seeking a Coalition Organizer to support its Advocacy Teams program. This contractor role focuses on helping Advocacy Teams build relationships with community leaders to enhance their lobbying power. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in organizing, coalition development, and grasstop cultivation, with experience working with faith communities being a plus. The Coalition Organizer will inspire and guide individuals from diverse backgrounds to develop advanced advocacy skills. This is a remote position, expected to require approximately 8 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Support Advocacy Teams in building and strengthening relationships with community leaders, including faith leaders and those from other sectors.
  • Train and coach Advocacy Teams in core organizing skills such as 1:1 relationship building, coalition development, and outreach strategy.
  • Provide ongoing coaching as Advocacy Teams build and engage coalitions in coordination with their advocacy campaigns.
  • Support Advocacy Teams in integrating coalition partners into lobby meetings and other advocacy activities like sign-on letters and in-district lobby days.
  • Maintain regular coaching rhythms to support momentum, accountability, and follow-through.
  • Encourage reciprocal relationship-building between Advocacy Teams and community leaders to strengthen long-term partnerships.
  • Strengthen Advocacy Teams’ ability to lead, strengthen, and sustain coalitions over time with increasing independence.
  • Coach teams to expand and sustain relationships with community leaders across multiple sectors.
  • Build long-term organizing capacity within Advocacy Teams, including planning, follow-through, and sustained coalition engagement.
  • Meet weekly with the Senior Advocacy Teams Manager and the Advocacy Teams staff and contractors as needed.
