About The Position

A Chicago Coach is responsible for working with participants in InnerCity Weightlifting (ICW) and training clients of ICW. With participants, the coach is responsible for developing trusting relationships, providing quality coaching for workouts, and certifying participants as trainers. With both personal training and corporate training clients, coaches ensure consistent delivery and experience of our training services, including consultations, ongoing evaluations and coaching sessions, program writing, and quality control of student training.

Requirements

  • Interest in social justice and passionate about ICW mission
  • Experience personal training and/or fitness industry experience
  • Experience writing training programs
  • NSCA, NASM, ISSA, or equivalent certification

Responsibilities

  • Earning trust and working out with participants
  • Teaching the ICW personal training curriculums
  • Getting participants certified
  • Assisting with workouts for participants who become trainers, until the trainer feels comfortable taking on clients
  • Assisting with case management and wrap-around support by working with our program team to support each participant with their unique needs
  • Conduct consultations for new clients, including a full evaluation and written program to follow
  • Conduct coaching sessions and program redesigns for all clients
  • Write new programs for clients in a timely manner following a Coaching session, at least 24-48 hours prior to their next scheduled session
  • Ensure that each program is handed off to the appropriate trainer and that the trainer is familiarized with exercises and accommodations
  • Contribute to monthly programming for our general client base who are training in-person and virtually
  • Use the Mindbody system to add new clients, book/cancel sessions, process payments, etc.
  • Performing quality control of personal training sessions, providing support for trainers & clients as needed
  • Support participants with studying towards ICW & ISSA Certifications
  • Provide feedback as needed with the professional development of trainers
  • Be an advocate of all areas of ICW, including mission, philanthropy, and personal and corporate training
  • Provide coverage at other ICW sites as schedule allows
  • Assist with planning and execution of ICW events as schedule allows
  • Build, manage, and market group fitness/class schedule for 95th Street tenants and outside clients
  • Support relationship with CRED (partner organization who is providing space for us)
