This is a part-time position for the 2026-2027 school year. The Literacy Coach will work with teachers to ensure the effective implementation of scientifically-based literacy research programs. This role involves providing direct, classroom-based professional development for teachers through regular modeling of research-based literacy instruction. The coach will collaborate with all teachers, including those in Exceptional Student Education, content areas, and elective areas, prioritizing coaching and mentoring for maximum impact on student achievement. A key responsibility is mentoring teachers in providing intensive intervention instruction for struggling students, including Limited English Proficient students. The coach will also model lessons in effective and differentiated reading instruction, facilitate teacher study groups on reading research, and organize and lead needs-based professional development programs focused on achieving reading benchmarks. Interpersonal skills are essential for building trust with teachers and school leadership as part of an academic coaching team. The coach will guide teachers in effective literacy instructional strategies through interrelated content, coordinate ongoing professional development through grade-level meetings, demonstrations, and study groups, and model enthusiasm and commitment to focused reading instruction. Additionally, the coach will provide instructional support for implementing state and district initiatives and assist content area teachers with effective strategies for content instruction and reading problem prevention/remediation.
