About The Position

Woburn Public Schools Co-Teacher Kindergarten The Teacher reports directly to the Director of Special Education and Principal of the School, and is expected to work closely with all school personnel. S/he will provide a safe, equitable, culturally responsive learning environment with high expectations for all students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university required
  • Current Massachusetts's DESE Certification in Moderate or Severe Special Needs for corresponding grade levels (K-8).
  • Experience working in a diverse educational setting, including the ability to work successfully with students, colleagues, and families from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Competence with technology tools and platforms, including Google applications

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Formal training and/or experience in co-teaching

Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming, inclusive, culturally responsive classroom environment that is conducive to student’s learning and their ability to comfortably share their authentic selves.
  • Implement the district curriculum (aligned with MA DESE Frameworks) to provide for academic instruction of standards-based skills working with special education and EL staff, relative to the appropriate inclusion for all students.
  • Administer district assessments and use data to implement effective strategies to meet the needs of all students.
  • Remain current by participating in ongoing professional development activities within and out-of-district, such as instructional technology.
  • Diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress through a variety of assessments in a timely and consistent manner; monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Refer students for alternative services as provided by the District.
  • Utilize feedback from Principal, coaches and peers to reflect on improvement of teaching practices and style.
  • Chair all annual review and IEP progress meetings; participate in evaluation and eligibility meetings, as appropriate.
  • Effectively collaborate with grade level and department and teachers for best practices across the curriculum.
  • Abide by state statutes, school committee policies, regulations, and WPS Employee Handbook.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct student records as required by law and district policies.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Principal or WPS Administration.
