About The Position

Vancer is seeking motivated students for its Diesel Technician CO-OP Sponsorship Program. This program is designed to help students develop into skilled diesel technicians for the heavy equipment and railroad industries. Participants will receive paid tuition assistance, hands-on experience with custom maintenance-of-way (MOW) equipment, professional mentorship, and opportunities for career advancement within Vancer upon graduation. The program combines classroom instruction with practical experience in Vancer's manufacturing and service environment.

Requirements

Have earned your high school diploma (or will graduate prior to program start).
Plan to enroll, or are currently enrolled, in a Vancer-approved Diesel Technology program.
Have strong mechanical aptitude demonstrated through school, hobbies, work experience, or personal projects.
Enjoy solving mechanical problems and working with your hands.
Work well independently and as part of a team.
Communicate effectively and demonstrate professionalism.
Have a strong attendance record and positive attitude.
Intend to pursue a long-term career with Vancer after graduation.

Nice To Haves

Maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
Make satisfactory progress toward graduation within approximately 24 months.
Successfully complete both classroom and workplace learning requirements.
Demonstrate Vancer's values in school, at work, and in the community.

Responsibilities

Work alongside experienced technicians inspecting, diagnosing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing custom railroad equipment.
Assist with troubleshooting hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Learn industry-leading diagnostic and repair techniques.
Participate in technical training and professional development opportunities.
Develop safe work habits while following company policies and procedures.
Represent Vancer professionally at work, school, and within your community.
Build the technical skills needed for a successful career in the diesel and heavy equipment industry.
