About The Position

Coeur Alaska is seeking a motivated mineral process engineering student to complete a Co-Op with our Metallurgical and Assay team, within Process Operations at the Kensington Mine in 2027. The Co-Op program will provide real-world, on-the-job experience, with interns mentored by industry professionals and given ownership of projects with a tangible impact on the company. Longer rotations at site (~3 weeks on and 1 week off) will be required.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate entering Junior or Senior year.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in related field to internship discipline desired (Potential areas of focus: Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Process Engineering)
  • Minimum GPA 2.5, preferred GPA 3.0 or higher
  • Ability to work 6-8 months, beginning in Winter ’27 OR Spring ‘27
  • Comfortable working underground for short periods, exposure to heat from furnaces and ovens, working independently in a metallurgical lab setting and standing for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work safely and promote a safety mindset through design and action
  • Project and teamwork experience
  • Ability to work both independently and with a multidisciplinary team (engineers, miners, mechanics, electricians, geologists, safety coordinators, etc.)
  • Analytical and familiar with mass balancing
  • Must be legally authorized to work full-time in the country of hire without requiring current or future sponsorship for employment.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Candidates that are eager to demonstrate leadership potential, strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work individually and within a team
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn!

Responsibilities

  • Stop work for safety concerns, and abide by safety best practices, policies and procedures.
  • Optimization of circuits within the milling and water treatment environments
  • Metallurgical accounting and test work
  • Modeling of processes
  • Perform other duties as assigned
