About The Position

This is a co-op opportunity with Philips, welcoming individuals currently pursuing an undergraduate (BS) and/or graduate (MS) degree for paid opportunities at their site in Latham. Through this role, participants will gain meaningful, hands-on experience working for a HealthTech company. The role involves assisting in the design, assembly, and testing of cryogenic systems and superconducting magnets, troubleshooting and resolving mechanical issues related to these systems, and collaborating with engineers and scientists to develop and implement design solutions. Participants will also conduct experiments and tests to evaluate prototype performance and reliability, and maintain and calibrate lab equipment.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, biomedical engineering, Electrical Engineering or other engineering.
  • Hands-on experience in a laboratory setting, setting up and executing test protocols.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and standards in a lab environment.
  • Experience with 3D modeling and other engineering tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of mechanical systems and experience in designing mechanical assemblies.
  • Understanding of thermal systems, heat transfer, cryogenics, or vacuum systems.
  • Understanding of basic circuits and experience developing circuits or programming controllers to solve an engineering problem.
  • Experience working with teams to solve complex engineering problems.
  • Good attention to detail on documentation and experience writing technical documents.
  • Must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands on building skills are preferred.

Responsibilities
