About The Position

The Co-Op Engineer position includes design and engineering, cost estimation, and limited project management responsibilities. The co-op will be expected to perform duties such as assisting other engineers with specifying and designing customer projects, performing tasks related to the engineering process (verifying vendor drawings, etc.), investigating potential improvements for production areas and customer projects, and designing, fabricating, and managing small projects to assist production. The role also involves gaining specific knowledge of the company's product line and capabilities, evaluating projects by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents, identifying engineering time, labor time, and material requirements, computing costs, resolving discrepancies, preparing special reports, and maintaining technical knowledge. The position contributes to team effort and requires problem-solving and communication skills, proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word and Excel), and the ability to manage multiple tasks with urgency, work independently, and be safety-oriented.

Requirements

  • Current Engineering Student in Collage
  • Must be skilled in MS Office Suite, mainly Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to complete multiple tasks with a strong sense of urgency to meet the customer needs.
  • Must be able to work well within a team environment and take instructions from management and co-workers.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Safety oriented with the ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Must be capable of performing the essential functions of the job

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in MS Project Manager a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist other engineers with specifying and designing customer projects.
  • Perform tasks related to engineering process (verifying vendor drawings, etc.).
  • Investigate potential improvements for production areas and customer projects.
  • Design, fabricate and manage small projects to assist production.
  • Gain specific knowledge of our company’s Product Line and our capabilities.
  • Evaluate projects by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents and information supplied.
  • Identifies engineering time, labor time, and material requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
  • Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, and engineering requirements.
  • Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintain and build technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications and conversing with vendors and colleagues.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
