Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) program in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, or a closely related discipline.
  • Must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. and not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually require future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the Internal requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university throughout the duration of the co-op/internship.
  • Must be able to relocate to the office location and work 40hrs/week, Monday to Friday for the full duration of the co-op/internship.

Nice To Haves

  • Solid foundational knowledge of organic chemistry and/or biochemistry principles.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced research environment.
  • Prior laboratory experience in synthetic organic chemistry and/or nucleic acid chemistry.
  • Hands-on experience operating solid-phase oligonucleotide synthesizers, including any of the following platforms: MM192, MM/12/ Dr. Oligo/ ÄKTA Oligopilot 100 (OP100).
  • Practical experience with ion exchange column chromatography for oligonucleotide purification.
  • Proficiency in LCMS (Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry) analysis and data interpretation.
  • Strong scientific writing and communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports, summaries, and presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Familiarity with laboratory data management systems and electronic lab notebooks (ELNs).

Responsibilities

  • Perform synthesis, purification, and characterization of oligonucleotides and/or small molecule compounds in support of ongoing research programs.
  • Operate and maintain solid-phase oligonucleotide synthesizers and related instrumentation.
  • Execute ion exchange column chromatography for purification of nucleic acid-based compounds.
  • Conduct LCMS analysis to assess purity, identity, and quality of synthesized materials.
  • Accurately record experimental data, maintain detailed laboratory notebooks, and ensure data integrity in compliance with Sanofi's quality standards.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental results, troubleshoot issues, and propose solutions in collaboration with senior scientists.
  • Prepare clear and concise written summaries, experimental reports, and presentations to communicate scientific findings to the team.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, scientific discussions, and project reviews.
  • Adhere to all laboratory safety protocols, SOPs, and regulatory guidelines.
