Co-op, Cell Models and Molecular Biology

Biogen•Cambridge, MA
•$29 - $33

About The Position

This is a six-month student Co-op role running from January through June 2027, with resume review beginning in October 2026. The Co-op will join Biogen’s Cell Models & Molecular Biology group, a multidisciplinary research team developing and characterizing advanced in vitro cellular models to investigate disease biology. The role offers hands-on experience with human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and iPSC-derived cell types, applying molecular and cellular biology techniques to study disease-relevant phenotypes in drug discovery. Working alongside scientists and collaborating with internal research stakeholders, the Co-op will help develop robust and reproducible experimental workflows, support established research, and contribute to new experimental capabilities. The role also provides exposure to laboratory automation, including translating manual workflows into automated processes using a Molecular Devices CellXpress robotic platform. Candidates should be curious, detail-oriented, and interested in the intersection of biology and automation. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S., be at least 18 before the scheduled start date, and be currently enrolled in an accredited community college, college, university, or skills program/apprenticeship. The education section specifies that candidates must be currently pursuing or enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program. Preferred programs include Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biochemical Engineering, Biology, and Biotechnology. Hands-on laboratory experience is preferred; iPSC culture, molecular biology techniques, and robotics or automation experience are advantageous. The base compensation range is $29.00–$33.00 per hour. The actual hourly wage will consider academic level and degree candidacy and comply with applicable state or local minimum wage requirements. Biogen describes itself as a mid-sized biotechnology company and emphasizes inclusion, belonging, learning, growth, and contributing to its mission of delivering life-changing medicines.
