About The Position

This position is responsible for preparing and serving meals in a quick and pleasant manner. The role ensures that food is replenished regularly during meal service times, completes work and cleaning assignments, and maintains records for accountability. The CNP Worker also performs cashier duties, maintains professional relationships with students, faculty, and colleagues, and keeps an accurate inventory of food and supplies. This role promotes good public relations and performs other related duties as assigned. The job description outlines the general nature and level of work, but the successful candidate may be required to perform other duties as assigned. The Madison City Board of Education reserves the right to amend the job description as needed. This position is subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant already employed by Madison City Schools. Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow and adjust a standardized recipe for school population.
  • Ability to conduct safe, quality food production.
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs unassisted and capable of completing other physical activities such as: squatting, kneeling, stooping, etc.
  • Knowledge of basic math skills to complete accurate production, recipe adjustment, time-temperature safety, inventory records, and cashier duties as assigned.
  • Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in a fast paced, highly intensive work environment.
  • Background Check Required: Upon offer of employment, employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Background checks may not be more than ten (10) years old. A new background check is required for anyone new to Madison City Schools, regardless of the recency of the ABI and FBI background checks.
  • Student Safety & Security: Employees are expected to model professional conduct, maintain clear and appropriate boundaries with students, use district-approved channels for communications, and avoid interactions that could be perceived as favoritism, grooming, or undue familiarity. Staff must promptly report suspected child abuse or neglect to law enforcement authorities as required by Alabama law. Compliance with these expectations is a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years of experience in related field preferred
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

  • Up to 10 years experience will be counted for new employees who provide documentation of full-time experience in the area of concentration.
