About The Position

Coordinate and supervises the Child Nutrition Program at the local school. This position is responsible for ensuring an ample supply of food during meal service times, developing daily work assignments and cleaning schedules for CNP workers, and ensuring proper temperatures are maintained according to health department standards. The manager also maintains daily records of cooler and freezer temperatures, conducts orientation and yearly evaluations of CNP employees, and completes daily food production records and monthly inventory reports. Additionally, the role involves conducting student and parent involvement activities, assisting with meal preparation, service, and cleaning as needed, and instructing and supervising CNP workers regarding policies and procedures. Compliance with HACCP plan guidelines is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • 3 years of experience in related field preferred
  • Certified dietary manager, dietetic technician, or B.S. degree in nutrition and foods preferred
  • Successfully complete the ServSafe Manager Training certification course within 3 months of employment
  • Ability to be proficient in the use of e-mail and other Microsoft Office Programs, such as Word and Excel.
  • Ability to produce accurate reports.
  • Ability to complete food orders based on rotating menu schedule.
  • Ability to work with school personnel and assist with training, evaluation and special opportunities/occasions
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs unassisted and capable of completing other physical activities such as; squatting, kneeling, stooping, etc.
  • Ability to complete required functions of a CNP Worker and CNP Worker-Cashier when necessary.
  • Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in a fast paced, highly intensive work environment.
  • Employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
  • Background checks may not be more than ten (10) years old.
  • A new background check is required for anyone new to Madison City Schools, regardless of the recency of the ABI and FBI background checks.
  • Employees are expected to model professional conduct, maintain clear and appropriate boundaries with students, use district-approved channels for communications, and avoid interactions that could be perceived as favoritism, grooming, or undue familiarity.
  • Staff must promptly report suspected child abuse or neglect to law enforcement authorities as required by Alabama law.
