About The Position

The CNC Welding Programmer is responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs used in the fabrication of steel plate assemblies for fuel tanks. This role works closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to ensure manufacturing processes are efficient, accurate, and aligned with customer specifications. The CNC Welding Programmer will develop machine programs, verify welding identification, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, and support continuous process improvements to maximize productivity and quality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of CNC programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software and CNC programming systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications.
  • Experience programming CNC welding equipment, laser cutting equipment, press brakes, punch presses, or similar fabrication equipment.
  • Strong understanding of metal fabrication and welding processes and manufacturing methods.
  • Knowledge of tooling, machine setup requirements, and production workflow.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ERP/MRP systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • Experience programming PATH, Amada, Trumpf, Mazak, or comparable CNC equipment.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience.
  • Experience with nesting software such as SigmaNEST, TruTops, BySoft, or similar platforms.
  • APICS, SME, or manufacturing-related certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for PATH robotic welding systems.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, blueprints, and customer specifications to develop manufacturing programs.
  • Utilize PATH software to maximize welding efficiency.
  • Generate machine-ready programs and verify program accuracy prior to production release.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams to improve manufacturability and reduce cycle times.
  • Troubleshoot programming and machine operation issues to minimize downtime and production delays.
  • Maintain program libraries, revision control, and documentation standards.
  • Support first-article inspections and production validation activities.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and recommend continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Assist with machine setup requirements and tooling selection.
  • Ensure programming standards comply with company quality requirements and customer specifications.
  • Provide technical support and training to welding robot operators as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
  • Serve as a back-up to the CNC laser programmer when necessary.
