About The Position

This position is part of the Amentum Space Exploration Division (ASED) support to the NASA EM32 Welding & Manufacturing team under the Engineering Services and Science Capability Augmentation (ESSCA) contract to the NASA MSFC Engineering Directorate.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED or equivalent; and at least 6 years of experience and continuing education, or an Associate's Degree or equivalent at least 3 years of experience.
Demonstrated experience using Computer Aided Design (CAD) programs such as Solid Edge.
Demonstrated experience using Computer Aided Machining (CAM) programs such as SURFCAM.
Demonstrated experience using DMG Mori Seiki machining equipment such as mills, lathes and/or turning centers.
Demonstrated experience using Haas VF-series mills.
Demonstrated experience using Mitsubishi Wire EDM.
Demonstrated experience using Mitsubishi Plunge EDM.
Experience performing three-dimensional programming and machining of aerospace materials and to aerospace requirements.
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Possess and maintain automobile liability insurance.
Successfully complete a company defensive driving training class.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to make rational decisions.
Ability to exercise good judgment.
Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

Design/model friction stir weld (FSW) tools, friction plug weld plugs, friction plug weld fixtures, tooling and miscellaneous related parts in programs such as Solid Edge.
Create drawings from models.
Convert models to numerically controlled machine code using programs such as SURFCAM and manufacture parts using computer numerically controlled (CNC) and manual machining techniques.
Operate cranes and rigging loads for lifting.
Operate forklifts and aerial lifts.
Work around welding operations as needed.
