About The Position

LSI SOLUTIONS®, founded in 1986 and located in Victor, New York, is a growing medical device company with over 500 employees focused on advancing minimally invasive surgical instruments. The company is ISO 13485 certified and is seeking dedicated individuals to join their team in creating state-of-the-art devices to improve patient outcomes. The CNC Swiss/Mill Turn Machinist will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating Swiss style and Mill Turn CNC machines, as well as other machine tools, to produce precision components according to part prints, process sheets, quality documentation, and CAD models. This role emphasizes promoting a positive, safe, and continuously improving work environment focused on organizational goals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years’ experience setting-up and operate Swiss style and Mill turn machines required (Level I).
  • 3-5 years’ experience programming, setting-up and operate Swiss style and Mill turn machines required (Level II).
  • 6+ years’ experience programming, setting-up and operate Swiss style and Mill turn machines required (Level III).
  • 8+ years’ experience programming, setting-up, and operating Swiss style and Mill turn machines required (Senior).
  • Basic shop math skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, and inspection criteria.
  • Must be proficient in the use of standard inspection equipment.
  • Basic understanding of GD&T.
  • Good working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Able to run variety of shop equipment.
  • Experience working with close tolerances in a variety of metals.
  • Capable of writing complex multi axis programs.
  • Strong working knowledge of GD&T.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of trade school preferred.
  • Knowledge of SPC preferred.
  • Programming experience preferred.
  • Advanced programming experience required; Partmaker/Esprit experience preferred (Level III/Senior).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow standard safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Read and understand part drawings and basic GD&T.
  • Perform accurate and timely job tasking, line clearance, and production reporting of work orders.
  • Conduct in-process inspection of components to ensure conformity to quality requirements using precision measuring instruments.
  • Set-up and operate Swiss style and Mill turn machines for production parts.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on equipment.
  • Review complex drawings and GT&D.
  • Program and troubleshoot complex tool paths.
  • Troubleshoot complicated process issues independently.
  • Support training of Level I Machinist and Operators.
  • Work independently and in a team environment.
  • Work with other departments on projects, designs, and process improvements.
  • Program, set-up, run parts, inspect, and make adjustments to produce conforming parts with no supervision.
  • Support Discovery and Engineering on rapid prototyping and urgent request.
  • Write and implement Macros.
  • Monitor Hourly Productivity & Quality report and take action to resolve issues to meet daily targets.
  • Participate in daily KPI meeting focused on identifying and resolving issues impacting ability to meet daily and weekly targets.
  • Mentor new employees and evaluate training requirements to meet KPI targets.
  • Support and train new employees on work order line clearances to reduce any delays to downstream processes.
  • Recommend and research new machines, software, and capabilities.
  • All other duties as assigned.
