CNC Steel Fabrication Machine Operator
About The Position
We are seeking a CNC Machine Operator to process steel components using CNC cutting, sawing, and drilling equipment. The position is contract-to-hire, with first- and second-shift opportunities in Cocoa, Florida. Pay is up to $27.00 per hour, with an additional $3.00 per hour for second-shift employees. Candidates should have experience operating at least one relevant machine, handling materials with overhead cranes, and marking parts accurately. The role involves setting up and adjusting machines, measuring and selecting materials, marking parts, tracking production and material usage, performing routine preventive maintenance, assisting with equipment troubleshooting, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area. The work requires regularly lifting 50 pounds, standing for extended periods, and working in hot and cold industrial environments.
Requirements
- Experience operating a CNC plasma table or performing sawing, drilling, or cutting operations.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately to within 1/16 inch.
- Experience safely operating overhead cranes and material transfer/conveyor systems.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly and stand for extended periods.
- Comfort working in hot and cold industrial environments.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with a Kinetic Plasma Table, Peddinghaus Saw/Drill Line, Peddinghaus Angle Master, or Ficep Beamline.
- Basic math skills and the ability to interpret blueprints, symbols, and notes.
- Tekla PowerFab experience.
Responsibilities
- Set up and adjust machine settings for accurate, efficient operation.
- Measure materials and verify dimensions against specifications.
- Select the correct material type, stock size, and dimensions for each job.
- Mark materials with the required part information.
- Track daily production and material usage.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and assist with troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
