About The Position

The CNC Setup Operator is responsible for setting up, checking routine programs, and operating CNC machines to perform a standard series of progressive machining operations to meet precise tolerance/finish requirements. This role also involves instructing other operators on job requirements, selecting proper tooling, manually programming short runs/special jobs, making periodic operation checks, diagnosing troubles, and making adjustments. The operator will work from drawings and process sheets, use a variety of precision measuring instruments, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of machining fundamentals and basic operation skills
  • Shop arithmetic, print reading, and measuring procedures
  • Three to four years of on-the-job training in applied machine shop experience
  • At least one year of set up experience with Mori Seiki machinery
  • Proficiency with Fanuc controls
  • Horizontal set-up experience
  • Ability to understand and edit basic programs

Responsibilities

  • Set up equipment and fixtures in machining center for other operators
  • Select proper tooling
