About The Position

We’re hiring skilled CNC Set-Up Machinists to join a stable, growing manufacturing team. You’ll work in a state-of-the-art, exceptionally clean facility equipped with advanced CNC technology, including multi-axis and 5-axis machining centers, mill-turn lathes, and Swiss lathes. In this role, you’ll independently set up and operate equipment for high-mix, low-volume production, machining complex parts to tight tolerances. We’re looking for experienced machinists who can perform complete setups, first article inspections, and in-process quality checks while continuing to build their skills in a high-precision environment.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of CNC machining experience (Turning, Milling, or Swiss).
  • Proven ability to perform independent machine setups without relying on standard operators.
  • Strong blueprint reading skills and the ability to understand and execute complex tolerances.
  • Proven ability to hold incredibly tight tolerances and perform accurate first article and in-process inspections.
  • Highly reliable on a daily basis with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, remaining flexible for overtime needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Specific experience with 5-axis mills, mill-turn machines, or Wire EDM is a major plus.
  • Experience machining exotic metals.
  • Technical/trade school certification or additional advanced machining education.
  • Familiarity working within established lean manufacturing practices.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform complete, from-scratch CNC machine setups in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment, including tooling, workholding, fixture setup, offsets, and machine preparation.
  • Operate advanced CNC equipment, including 3- to 5-axis machining centers, mill-turn lathes, and Swiss lathes, while monitoring machine performance, cycle consistency, and part quality throughout production runs.
  • Troubleshoot setup-related issues and make adjustments to tooling, workholding, feeds, speeds, and offsets as necessary to establish a stable and repeatable machining process.
  • Perform first article inspections and continuous in-process monitoring using standard metrology tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to hold extremely tight tolerances.
  • Make precise tool offset adjustments, change tools as needed, and ensure all tools and gages are properly calibrated to maintain part accuracy.
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and job orders to ensure all parts meet strict customer specifications.
  • Follow established company procedures for tagging, inspection, and production documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation, perform basic preventative machine maintenance, and adhere strictly to all safety and lean manufacturing policies.
