About The Position

As a leader on the CAD/CAM team, you will be an active contributor to the factory volume ramp and standardization efforts. This role provides leadership, guidance, and mentorship for second-shift programming staff, managing workflows and overseeing training for both full-time employees and contractors. You will make critical decisions regarding personnel, safety, and production priorities, provide guidance for drawing interpretation and GD&T application, and facilitate a seamless "pass-down" process. This role also involves translating first-shift requirements into actionable second-shift tasks, providing comprehensive reporting, and offering high-level technical support for NX programming across various equipment platforms. You will step in to troubleshoot complex code or toolpath issues, provide real-time manufacturing feedback during the development phase for program optimization, and adjust team focus based on machine uptime, part urgency, or staffing fluctuations. Additionally, you will generate and maintain CNC programs, initiate and lead process improvement projects, and communicate effectively within a matrixed organization, working effectively in a fast-paced environment while driving positive change.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Associate’s Degree, or Machinist Apprentice (or similar) graduate with 5 years of experience with Siemens NX CAM OR High School Degree w/8 years of experience with Siemens NX CAM.
  • 5 years experience in a leadership role.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience creating 5-axis CNC programs using a CAM (preferably NX) system.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with high-level machine tool controls including sub-routine(macro), Renishaw probing routine, and variable based programming, as well as CLM (closed loop machining).
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or Machine Tool Technology.
  • Strong problem solving and organization skills, with above average shop math skills in geometry and trigonometry.
  • Strong familiarity with multiple EDM machines including Mitsubishi, Agie, MKG, Belmont, etc.
  • Experience using Vericut (preferred) or other CNC verification/machine simulation software.
  • Strong familiarity with multiple machine controls including Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, & Siemens.
  • Demonstrated proficiency interpreting drawing requirements.
  • Experience with large precision grinding applications.
  • Ability to multi-task and productively manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Experience machining high temperature superalloys found in HDGT or Aerospace components.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee employee and contractor training as it relates to NX, Vericut, or any other software/machine control needs.

  • Provide guidance for drawing interpretation and application of GD&T.
  • Facilitate a seamless "pass-down" process.
  • Translate first-shift requirements into actionable second-shift tasks and provide comprehensive reporting for the following morning’s first-shift start.
  • Provide high-level technical support for NX programming across various equipment platforms.
  • Step in to troubleshoot complex code or toolpath issues that stall production.
  • Provide real-time manufacturing feedback during the development phase to ensure programs are optimized for the shop floor.
  • Adjust the team’s focus in real-time based on machine uptime, part urgency, or staffing fluctuations.
  • Generate and maintain CNC programs utilizing NX-CAM or other software if needed.
  • Initiate and lead process improvement projects to improve safety, quality, cost and delivery.
  • Provide effective communication to appropriate team members when needed.
  • Work effectively as an individual and in a team-based environment in a matrixed organization.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment while embracing and driving positive change inside and outside the organization when appropriate.
