About The Position

The position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing CNC machining programs and processes for silicon and other brittle materials. This position serves as a subject matter expert for CNC programming and machining execution, bridging engineering intent and manufacturing reality to ensure safe, capable, and repeatable processes that meet all dimensional, cosmetic, and performance requirements. This role emphasizes hands-on CNC programming expertise, process control, equipment support, and standardization.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or High School Diploma
  • 5+ years of progressive CNC machining and programming experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of shop operations and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong proficiency in CNC programming (G/M-code, macro, CAM).
  • Experience with CAD/CAM systems, post processors, and DNC.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Working knowledge of SPC and manufacturing best practices.
  • Self-driven, accountable, and detail-oriented.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective independent and team-based work capability.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships and excel within cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for CNC programming and machining execution within assigned value streams.
  • Support process engineers by translating engineering requirements into executable and repeatable CNC machining programs.
  • Apply structured problem-solving methodologies to address machining, tooling, probing, and equipment performance issues.
  • Support FMEA development and updates for machining processes and equipment.
  • Develop, modify, certify, and maintain CNC programs using G/M-code, macro programming, hard-coded logic, and CAM-generated programs.
  • Support CAD/CAM systems, post processors, and DNC infrastructure to ensure program integrity and revision control.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to CNC machines, programs, tooling, fixtures, and consumables.
  • Set up and operate CNC machining centers, grinders, and auxiliary equipment (tool setter and dresser) as required.
  • Assist in applying lean manufacturing concepts and 5S.
  • Demonstrate ownership of continuous improvement ideas and activities.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness, housekeeping and 5S within work area.
  • Maintain these areas at the highest degree possible while responsibly escalating any maintenance issues.
