About The Position

National Oilwell Varco (NOV) is a leading global supplier of drilling products for the energy industry. The Conroe, TX facility produces downhole products for drilling activities in North America and operates 24/7 to meet high demand. The plant offers an air-conditioned, highly organized, and clean 300,000 sq. ft. fabrication facility with new CNC machines (Mazak, Mori Sieke, DMG Mori, Weiler, etc.) and a strong safety program. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years of demonstrable experience in a same or similar position with like responsibilities and expected outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Write programs and modify existing ones for increased efficiency.
  • Utilize drawings or CAD models to support program development.
  • Utilize CAM software to produce programs.
  • Make calculations for programming.
  • Create, document, and back-up all programs.
  • Update set-up sheets and tool lists as required.
  • Check completed programs by running simulations or tests.
  • Prepare geometric layout of designs using proper software.
  • Determine sequence of operations in a program.
  • Confer with appropriate engineering personnel in preparing and finalizing programs.
  • Choose cutting tools that will be needed.
  • Analyze job order and performs necessary calculations.
  • Simplify tooling time for workers and increases productivity.
  • Monitor all programs to make sure they follow blueprint instructions and safely and successfully complete the task.
  • Assure quality and production requirements are met, as per travelers and blueprints, etc.
  • Participate in total quality management projects to achieve continuous improvement.
  • Participate in LEAN manufacturing and SPC activities as required.
  • Report any equipment or facility defect(s) to supervisor.
  • Ensure any accident or injury is promptly reported.
  • Maintain NOV guidelines on safety, quality, and delivery.
  • Clean work areas as necessary to maintain cleanliness, health, and safety standards.
  • Perform all other reasonable tasks assigned with the goal of helping the team, operations, or the facility overall.
