About The Position

This role involves performing all phases of part machining, including cost estimating, reviewing technical data, defining processes, identifying tooling and fixture requirements, developing and implementing CNC files, setting up machines, performing rough and finish machining, and identifying machine tool requirements. The position also includes shop layout planning and providing support to Project Managers or engineering personnel in areas such as scheduling, data gathering, report preparation, and participating in test or project events. The CNC Programmer will also be responsible for CAD development and modeling of fixturing, interpreting engineering drawings and specifications, troubleshooting machining issues, supporting technicians, and mentoring other personnel. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Associate’s Degree in management or technical/scientific discipline preferred
5+ years highly preferred
Mastercam experience preferred
Understanding of AS9100, ISO9001, or similar quality standards
Experience programming 3-, 4- and/or 5+ axis CNC machining centers
Experience operating 3-, 4- and/or 5+ axis CNC machining centers
Must be a US citizen
Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required
Able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with hands and arms, grasp, handle and operate hand/power tools and machine controls
Perform frequent wrist, hand, and finger movements
Prolonged periods of computer screen use, while sitting or standing at a desk
Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate safety gear (e.g., eyewear, gloves, masks, hearing protection, etc.) for the assigned task
Able to safely lift and carry up to 20 pounds at a time

Responsibilities

Perform all phases of part machining including cost estimating, technical data review, process definition, tooling and fixture identification, CNC file development, testing, implementation, set-up, rough and finish machining, and machine tool identification.
Plan shop layout.
Provide support to Project Manager or mid-level/junior Engineering/Science personnel in scheduling, data gathering, limited analyses, and preparation of technical/project reports, test reports, drawings, specifications, and associated documentation.
Participate in test or project events as assigned.
Report project status and results.
Develop and model fixturing using CAD.
Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, 3D CAD models, and customer specifications.
Troubleshoot machining issues and modify programs to improve quality and efficiency.
Support technicians during the prove-out of new programs.
Mentor and educate technicians and other programmers.
