About The Position

We are seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, editing, and optimizing CNC programs, working from complex prints and designs, and ensuring parts are manufactured to close tolerances. This role requires proficiency in G-code, CAM software, and SolidWorks, as well as the ability to program and operate specialty machines. The CNC Programmer will also be involved in training other machinists, inspecting components, and maintaining a clean work area. Adaptability to a fast-paced environment and the ability to work independently are essential.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent
  • 3-5 years' experience in a machine shop
  • Knowledge of precision measuring devices
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and sketches
  • At least 3 years CNC mill programming experience
  • CAMWorks and SolidWorks proficiency
  • Proven mechanical aptitude
  • Advanced shop mathematics skills
  • Broad knowledge of machine shop practices
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve
  • Strong work ethic and follow-through
  • Must consistently use safety devices when operating machines
  • Attention to detail
  • Good attendance record
  • Ability to work well with others in the shop

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to design and edit models using SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using G-code and CAM software (e.g., CamWorks, Mastercam, Fusion 360, GibbsCAM).
  • Program CNC 3-axis and 5-axis mills using CAM software.
  • Read complex prints and designs, and transfer programs in and out of CNC machines.
  • Work from drawings, sketches, specifications, and verbal instructions to make parts.
  • Design and edit models using SolidWorks.
  • Read G & M code.
  • Program and operate one or more of the following specialty machines: CNC Grinder, High Speed Mills, or Wire EDMs.
  • Train other machinists on the proper use of common shop machine tools and inspection equipment.
  • Work to close tolerances.
  • Inspect own machined components using precision measuring instruments to check accuracy of work.
  • Setup machines for operation by others.
  • Keep work area and equipment clean.
  • Adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Work independently on projects with little assistance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
