We are seeking an experienced CNC Toolmaker to work from blueprints, drawings, models, and/or sketches to repair tools for production of die casting molds, trim dies, and tooling fixtures.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of experience programming CNC machining centers in a production manufacturing environment.
  • Strong hands-on proficiency in Mastercam CAD software.
  • Strong understanding of G-code and M-code editing at the machine control (Fanuc, Brother).
  • Excellent ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) specifications.
  • Proven experience selecting cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and coolants specifically for non-ferrous metals (aluminum, zinc).

Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and optimize 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC programs (milling, turning, vertical machining centers) using Mastercam.
  • Design or collaborate on the development of custom workholding, hydraulic/pneumatic fixtures, tailored to die-cast parts.
  • Establish optimal speeds, feeds, tool paths, and tooling selections to maximize throughput, tool life, and yield while minimizing cycle times and scrap rates.
  • Competent in the setup of all necessary fixturing, tooling, and inputting offsets to machine control.
  • Prove out new CNC programs on the shop floor, conducting first-article inspections using precision measuring equipment (CMM, micrometers, calipers, height gauges) to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and GD&T specifications.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues (e.g., chatter, tool wear, part deflection, etc) and update existing programs to improve machine uptime and part quality.
  • Select and standardize cutting tools, inserts, holders, and coolants best suited for non-ferrous alloys (aluminum, zinc).
  • Create setup sheets, tool lists, operator instruction manuals, and maintain organized program revision control in compliance with ISO/IATF quality standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
