About The Position

The CNC Programmer will be responsible for creating, refining, and improving multi-axis CNC machine programming and inspection programming to enhance precision and efficiency in manufacturing machine tools and equipment. This role involves leveraging advanced programming techniques to meet stringent quality and performance standards. The position also requires performing setup and operation of both CNC and conventional manufacturing machine tools and equipment, ensuring proper calibration, tooling, and machine readiness. The programmer will work from blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings, and verbal instructions to accurately produce hardware that meets design specifications, and utilize precision measurement tools to verify part dimensions. Collaboration with operators, engineers, and technicians is key to ensuring alignment on inspection requirements and processes. The role includes creating detailed process plans for inspection and measurement activities, providing hands-on training and mentorship, and collecting/analyzing measurement data using SPC and MSA techniques. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and web-based applications is also required. A strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement is essential. This position may involve working shifts beyond a standard workweek and requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years manufacturing experience, of which includes 2 years of CNC programming experience; OR
  • Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree in a technically related field with a minimum of 2 years of CNC programming experience.
  • Ability to be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.
  • Ability to prove status as a U.S. Person (U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, or granted asylee or refugee status).

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certification in a relevant field (i.e. aerospace engineering, mechanical systems, etc.).
  • Proven ability to set up and operate a wide range of precision inspection gauges, measuring tools, computer-based inspection workstations, and advanced instruments.
  • Extensive experience in performing complex mathematical calculations, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Hands-on experience with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machines and other digital inspection equipment, including programming, operation, and interpretation of results.
  • Demonstrated expertise in reading, analyzing, and interpreting mechanical blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and web-based tools.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, including waste reduction, process optimization, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Capability in adhering to guidance and supervision, following work rules, safety practices and procedures, while meeting deadlines and maintaining punctuality and attendance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Create, refine, and improve multi-axis CNC machine programming and inspection programming to enhance precision and efficiency in manufacturing machine tools and equipment.
  • Perform setup and operation of both CNC and conventional manufacturing machine tools and equipment.
  • Work from blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings, and verbal instructions to accurately produce hardware that meets design specifications.
  • Utilize precision measurement tools, such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges, to verify part dimensions and ensure all checks meet quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with operators, engineers, and technicians to ensure alignment on inspection requirements and processes, providing guidance and technical expertise.
  • Create detailed process plans for inspection and measurement activities, updating documentation as needed.
  • Provide hands-on training and mentorship to both employees and CMM Apprentices.
  • Collect and analyze measurement data to monitor process capability and product quality, leveraging Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) techniques.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office tools to create reports, presentations, and documentation, while leveraging web-based applications for efficient data management, collaboration, and communication.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment by actively participating in cross-training initiatives and promoting teamwork.
  • Perform related duties in environmental, health, safety, maintenance, quality, production flow and continuous improvement to support plant machinery, equipment, and manufacturing-related initiatives and programs.
  • Attend shift crossover and other business required meetings when applicable.
  • Participate in training duties as required.
