About The Position

This role, formally titled as a CAD/CAM Technician, is central to the Service Parts manufacturing automation efforts. The position involves building and maintaining intelligent 3D part libraries, creating machining programs, and designing parts kits that directly impact customer satisfaction. Requirements

4+ years of CNC programming experience using GibbsCAM
Prior experience or familiarity with CAD such as Creo is preferred (willingness to learn basics is required)
Strong understanding of services for technical products (or strong aptitude to learn)
Direct experience with GibbsCAM software for multi-axis machining
Understanding of family table concepts
Experience with modeling automation—producing BOMs, drawings, or machining programs as outputs from robust CAD models
CNC knowledge and programming fundamentals
Competency in Microsoft Excel
Proficiency in other MS Office utilities: Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Access
Excellent written and verbal communication
Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
Analytical mindset
Ability to manage multiple projects under strict timelines
Project management, organizational, and time management experience
Ability to influence other departments and disciplines to work together and meet customer needs
Problem-solving aptitude and desire to determine the most efficient way to manufacture parts

Nice To Haves

Associate's Degree in Computer Aided Design and/or Computer Aided Manufacturing (preferred)
Direct experience with PTC Creo CAD software (preferred)
Experience with VBA API scripts in Creo (a plus)

Responsibilities

Coordinate with manufacturing engineers to create machining program templates for each part family using GibbsCAM software.
Use Creo CAD to create family table–based part models for all components manufactured by Service Parts.
Build and maintain a 3D library of CNC machine tables, fixture geometries, and tooling.
Ensure part family programs can be flexibly posted to various machines within the SVP fleet based on capacity and availability.
Use CGTech Vericut for NC file validation before manufacturing release.
Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) during the programming process.
Determine optimal tooling and cutting parameters based on material and setup.
Provide technical support for Elliott Parts Kits.
Design parts kit layouts to meet internal and external customer needs—supporting growth, quality, and productivity.
Review drawings for accuracy; obtain weights and dimensions of spare parts.
Correct drawings as needed.
Determine how each part will be packaged safely and cost-effectively for long-term storage and safe handling.
Group and package parts into kits to ensure viability for outages.
Create inspection matrices and engineering sketches for kit box orders.
Coordinate with kit box vendors to approve layouts and ensure accuracy.
Work with Project Planners and Engineering on required drawing updates.
Create and maintain BOMs in Windchill for parts and products manufactured in-house by Service Parts (essential for MRP planning and Product Lifecycle Management).
Produce "conversion drawings" to give manufacturing usable documentation—including foreign language to English, metric to imperial, and manufacturing drawings for non-Elliott parts.
Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, routing instructions, manuals, and specifications.
Coordinate closely with manufacturing engineering to determine the "best method" for manufacturing each part type—using available machinery and tools, planning contour-path machining, and working with integrated software systems.
Partner with the Customer Strategy team to determine optimal parts kit layouts that meet customer needs and expectations.
