For more information about the company and product line visit: www.sigsauer.com Position Summary: The CNC Programmer Trainee is a transitional role intended to train employees in creating efficient machining processes for production. This role will troubleshoot and edit existing CNC programs utilizing a CAD/CAM software in the execution of low complexity components under mentorship of senior programmers. This is an entry-level position that draws on prior CNC programming and machining experience and technical and creative skills to develop processes. This role requires basic programming experience with setup and machining expertise to support daily production. FLSA: Non-Exempt

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent education required; Associate’s degree or certification in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality or other Engineering discipline preferred. Relevant work experience may be considered.
  • Requires 3-5 years of CNC machine setup or equivalent experience and 1 year minimum of demonstrated CNC machine programming.
  • Course certification of CAM training preferred, and CAD Software training preferred.
  • Capable of learning CAD/CAM software system to create new and modify existing CNC programming files.
  • Basic understanding of G&M Code and part drawings with GD&T.
  • Some knowledge of Fanuc Macro B CNC programming languages.
  • Ability to edit and modify existing parametric programs and capable of creating macro programs of moderate complexity.
  • Ability to learn a CAD software design system to create new and edit existing solid models.
  • Ability to select the correct post processor and machine environment within the CAM software.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers, fixtures, and gauges to check work.
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.

  • Experience using and maintaining firearms is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Under supervision, develop CNC manufacturing processes for machined components utilizing a CAD/CAM software.
  • Setup and prove-out new programs, diagnose, and troubleshoot quality or process related issues.
  • Work independently and in a team environment, may partner with Engineers, CNC Machine set-up, and Operators to execute tasks.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced Operators and set-up Technicians for process related issues.
  • Identify and order tooling as required to complete jobs and suggest alternatives for operational efficiencies for cost or time savings.
  • Creation of toolpath operations and set cutting tool parameters based on material type, tool engagement, cutting tool, and workholding conditions.
  • Support modification of fixturing and workholding required to process job effectively through all operations.
  • Creation of detailed setup sheets, tool lists, and other process documentation for production machinists.
  • Engage in and actively volunteer for Continuous Improvement projects and tasks.
  • Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
  • Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
  • Regular on-site attendance and punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
  • May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
  • May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
