About The Position

The CNC Toolroom Machinist programs, sets up, and operates CNC (and occasionally manual) machines to manufacture precision components used in new tool builds and production tooling maintenance. This role works closely with Toolroom leadership, designers, and toolmakers to ensure accuracy, quality, and timely completion of machined parts. The machinist is responsible for organizing material, verifying dimensional integrity, and supporting overall Toolroom workflow and documentation efforts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating CNC machines in a metalworking environment required.
  • Proficient in interpreting 2D drawings, CAD files, and sketches.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Comfortable with problem-solving using machine interfaces and PC-based applications.
  • Strong functional math skills required for machining and layout work.
  • Adheres to processes and works toward standardization.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with peers and supervisors.
  • Maintains a strong awareness of safety for self and others.
  • Displays a positive, cooperative, and professional attitude.
  • Required to stand, walk, use hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Must have close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to speak and hear clearly in a manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or technical certification in machining technology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cut raw materials for CNC or manual machining.
  • Load and secure heavy materials into machines or inspection devices.
  • Perform CNC operations specific to Tool & Die production.
  • Operate within established safety standards and company procedures.
  • Maintain machine condition and complete preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Use measuring equipment to confirm accuracy of finished parts.
  • Record part history and job details in appropriate tracking systems.
  • Communicate job progress, irregularities, and tooling needs clearly.
  • Assist with miscellaneous Toolroom projects as needed.
  • Demonstrate consistent attendance and reliability.
