This co-op position involves working closely with an experienced machinist to set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes. The role requires working with various materials and performing set-ups, including changing chuck jaws, tool holders, fixtures, boring bars, drills, and reamers, as well as setting tools. Participants will adhere to established Lean Manufacturing guidelines such as one-piece flow, standard work, 6S, set-up reduction, and wet process lines. Maintaining high housekeeping standards for a safe and efficient work area is also a key responsibility, including cleaning chips, managing coolant/machine fluids, and organizing the work area.
