About The Position

Sets-up and operates CNC press brake to bend and form various sizes, shapes, and types of sheet metal parts as specified by part blueprints to meet quality and production standards. The role involves reading blueprints, using measurement tools, retrieving parts and dies, programming the machine controller with specific data, completing setups, verifying parts against specifications, inspecting for nonconformities, arranging and moving finished parts, maintaining production records, servicing and performing preventive maintenance on the press brake, maintaining a clean work area, and following safety rules.

Requirements

Three months commercial, vocational, or other specialized training beyond high school.
Three to four years related work experience.

Responsibilities

Reads blueprints and production orders.
Accurately uses a square, rule and protractor.
Retrieves own parts and dies.
Enters data into the machine's controller to create a program to run a part including entering gage data (x, r and z coordinates, bend allowances, gage types); entering ram data (tonnage control, positioning, speeds); and entering any detailed information necessary for another operator to run the job in the future (die choices, die positions, information vital to running the job successfully).
Completes own setups.
Verifies print to latest engineering revision and then verifies part is made to print specifications.
Inspects part for any nonconformities including those of a cosmetic nature (i.e. scratches, dents, deformities).
Arranges completed parts in an orderly fashion and moves finished parts to holding area.
Keeps appropriate production records.
Services press brake as required and performs preventive maintenance on equipment.
Maintains cleanliness of work area and follows safe work practice rules.
Performs other miscellaneous duties as required
