About The Position

The CNC Prep Tech prepares and sets up tools and orders for CNC machine production runs, ensuring optimal performance and accuracy. The CNC Prep Tech is responsible for reading blueprints, selecting tooling, loading materials on fixtures, presetting cutting tools, and troubleshooting any issues that arise during the setup process. In addition, the CNC Prep Tech will document setup procedures and production data. Preparing the CNC machine for operation, including cleaning the work area, ensuring proper coolant levels, and verifying the machine's overall readiness. Performing tool presetting through the Zoller so the Machinist do not have to touch off the tools. Addressing any issues that arise during the preparation process, such as ensuring enough tools are set for the job, and performing part inspections to ensure the machine is producing good product. Maintaining accurate records of setup procedures, and production data (QI sheets), which can be crucial for quality control and process optimization Loading and securing materials, such as metal blanks onto the fixtures according to safety protocols and machining requirements. Selecting appropriate cutting tools, holding fixtures, and other accessories based on the part being machined and the required operations. Complete basic production paperwork and labels accurately. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Communicate any issues or concerns with parts or equipment to a machinist or supervisor.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly (occasional lifting up to 75 lbs. as required with assistance).
  • Ability to perform prolonged standing and physical movements including bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Requires repetitive hand use, manual dexterity, and hand–eye coordination.
  • Ability to safely operate manufacturing machinery.
  • Work environment may include loud noise and requires use of PPE in designated areas.

  • CNC Machining Certificate – or actively enrolled in an accredited technological or vocational school.
