About The Position

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated CNC Operator who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Batesburg, SC. Please note: This is a second shift position. Work hours will be from 4:00pm to 2:30am - Monday through Thursday. The CNC Operator is responsible for performing the set-up, autonomous maintenance and operation of CNC machinery utilizing a variety of tools and established Hitachi Rail programs. The Operator will ensure that parts meet or exceed company specifications based on engineering changes and other manufacturing and technical documentation.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of Associate CNC Operator or similar experience
  • Experience operating overhead and jib cranes
  • Understand the use of CAD/CAM software in CNC operations
  • Familiarity with Metrology tools (e.g. hardness and stress testing)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and SAP Enterprise Software
  • Ability to obtain Powered Industrial Trucks (e.g. forklift, pallet jack, etc.) Certification
  • Ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively and document work activities
  • Ability to measure parts and identify defects
  • Ability to train Associate level operators
  • Ability to lift, stand, walk, and work on concrete surfaces for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift or lower items weighing < 24lbs (10.9kg) and Push or Pull efforts < 42lbs (19kg)

Nice To Haves

  • CNC programming experience
  • Knowledge of Hitachi Rail products

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and other technical documents
  • Set-up and operate CNC machines, to include lathes, milling machines, etc.
  • Perform autonomous maintenance on equipment, such as tool and fluid changes
  • Visually and manually inspecting parts and workmanship for defects using measuring tools and gauges, ensuring they meet quality standards
  • Load and assess tool quality, and assist in troubleshooting machine issues
  • Follow the 5S policy, keeping the work area clean and organized
  • Inspect work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance, to include HSE critical requirements and great attention to detail
  • Support other departments as needed, including assembly work and painting
  • Adhere to safety and quality guidelines and company policies
