About The Position

This position is responsible for operating CNC machines, ensuring adherence to specifications, and contributing to a safe and efficient work environment. The role involves reviewing work orders, setting up machines, monitoring operations, and performing quality checks. For CNC II roles, there is an expectation to provide guidance to CNC I operators and troubleshoot advanced issues.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 2-3 years CNC operations experience; HAAS and Fidal CNC Machines
  • 3-5 years for a CNC II role
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to read technical drawings & schematics
  • Demonstrated mechanical skills
  • Ability to problem solve and make decisions within one’s own judgment
  • 2D & 3D programming skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production
  • Ability to quickly and accurately compare similarities and differences

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience with SolidWorks, G-code & Master CAM software highly preferred
  • Availability to train on 1st Shift a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Reviews work orders, blueprints, drawings, specifications, or setup instructions to determine dimensional specifications, setup requirements, materials required, and work procedures.
  • Installs proper cutting tools and workpiece holders such as blocks, risers, and clamps.
  • Lifts raw materials either manually or using a lifting device to position and secure material on the machine table or in a holding fixture.
  • Edits programs as required and enters commands to instruct the machine on the desired outcome.
  • Monitors machine operations and control panel displays to detect malfunctions and compare readings to specifications.
  • Stops machine operations according to the prescribed sequence of actions.
  • Uses precision measuring instruments to check finished workpiece dimensions and ensures conformance to specifications.
  • Confers with supervisor or programmer to resolve machine malfunctions and production errors; obtains approval to continue production when variances are noted.
  • Maintains cleanliness and functionality of machines, tools, parts, and work areas.
  • Corrects safety hazards when recognized and able; reports those unable to correct to supervisor and/or Safety representative.
  • Participates in LEAN initiatives as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Provide guidance and general oversight of CNC I operator(s) (for CNC II role).
  • Trouble-shoots and problem-solves some of the more advanced issues arising on the CNC machines in the normal course of daily work activities (for CNC II role).
