About The Position

This is a Temp-To-Full-Time position for a CNC Operator. The role involves understanding basic control features, loading and unloading material, performing deburring, maintaining quality standards, inspecting parts, and performing minor machine maintenance. The operator will be responsible for setting up, calibrating, and operating machinery, conducting pre-production checks, adjusting and troubleshooting machinery, and maintaining accurate records. Collaboration with maintenance teams for routine maintenance and repairs is also a key aspect of the role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a CNC Operator.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs when required.
  • Ability to maneuver parts weighing 60+ lbs. with the assistance of a hoist.
  • Ability to complete shifts requiring the employee to stand, walk, push, pull and reach with arms and hands constantly.
  • Ability to wear required and provided hearing protection.
  • Basic programming knowledge of M&G Code.
  • Mechanical aptitude and good math skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Highest level of quality of parts must be maintained.

  • Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.

Responsibilities

  • Understand basic control features including emergency stop, reset, cycle start, feed hold, coolant status, and program status.
  • Load and unload material, ensuring proper loading and clamping before starting a cycle.
  • Identify and achieve proper deburring requirements using power and hand tools.
  • Maintain high quality of parts by avoiding damage from improper handling, packaging, deburring, clamping, and by watching for casting imperfections, porosity, voids, based on work instructions and customer requirements.
  • Perform and record inspections specified on PDR (Process Data Records) using required gauges.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including cleaning chips from the machine, filling coolant levels, cleaning the bench, and sweeping floors.
  • Identify tool wear and determine when adjustments or changes are needed.
  • Read and fill out all documentation, such as LIT’s, PDR’s, and Scrap Tags, including marking defects on parts.
  • Utilize the MOPS when required.
  • Log all labor into MES stations.
  • Perform minor maintenance on machines, including checking coolant levels and concentration (using a refractometer), and maintaining associated coolant tank screens.
  • Use pressure testers, keeping them clean, identifying worn seals, and notifying maintenance.
  • Test master parts to ensure they pass and fail.
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate machinery and equipment according to established procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Conduct pre-production checks, including inspection of tools and equipment.
  • Adjust and troubleshoot machinery as needed during operation.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of set-ups, machine adjustments, and production metrics.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to conduct routine maintenance and repairs on machinery.
  • Change tools, including indexable inserts, standard inserts, and taps.
  • Make minor adjustments to programs, such as tool compensations.
  • Utilize the optical comparator to ensure correct tool height.
  • Understand all machine axes and axis direction.
  • Remove and install tools via spindle or magazine.
  • Change inserts on face mills and similar tools, and adjust bore and thread sizes.
  • Change and adjust all various types of tooling.
  • Pick up offsets using an edge finder or indicator.
  • Move work offsets when requested from the quality department.
  • Edit/adjust CNC programs as needed.
  • Load/unload programs in the machine controller.
  • Proficiently and accurately set up machines, including installing and securing fixtures, setting, adjusting, and installing tools.
  • Proof run the first part, work with QC to achieve first piece approval, and make necessary adjustments.
