About The Position

Contribute to the production of equipment used to manufacture life-enhancing medications. The CNC Operator will be responsible for setting up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. Includes precision instrument makers who fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

Requirements

  • 2 years in Machine Shop Environment preferred
  • 2 years’ experience in Mechanical Field
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. / 23 kilograms
  • Typical work is in a manufacturing environment or customer’s site
  • Required to stand for long periods of time and may involve heavy manual labor
  • You will need to be able to stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, reach, lift, push, pull, and carry items
  • Exposure to loud noises
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment

Nice To Haves

  • Awareness of and prior experience with implementing Continuous Improvement (CI) a plus.
  • Prior Lean/Six Sigma experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC equipment
  • Program and edit CNC machines using G-code
  • Troubleshoot machining and production issues to maintain efficiency and quality
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production operations
  • Reads and understands setup sheet, specifications and drawings to determine setup procedures, machining sequence and dimensions of finished work piece.
  • Attaches fixtures to machine and position and secures work piece in fixture according to setup instructions.
  • Selects and installs proper cutting tools.
  • Loads programs in machine control unit or enters commands to retrieve machine instructions from database.
  • Manipulates controls and enters commands to index cutting tool to specified set point and to start machine.
  • Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
  • Changes cutting tools and location of work piece during machining process as specified in instructions.
  • Measures and inspects first work piece for conformance to specifications and quality standards.
  • Machine high tolerance components to drawing specifications using primarily lathe and milling machines.
  • Fabricate specialty parts
  • Recommend improvements.
  • Conduct operations in a safe manner

  • Follow all safety rules and policies
  • Execute other tasks as assigned
  • Ability to travel when required
  • Will play an active role in identifying and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunity.
