About The Position

The CNC Operator is responsible for grinding rotary tooling to specification per work instructions. This role involves setting blade clearance on both manual and CNC equipment, ensuring accuracy according to specifications. The operator will also be responsible for maintaining the grinding wheel and tooling supply, and adhering to all safety protocols including wearing proper PPE. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to use precision measuring tools, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work area.

Requirements

Ability to prioritize effectively.
Ability to assimilate and retain quickly a variety of information concerning company organization, policy and products.
Proficient skill level in simple mathematics.
Know how to use micrometers and calipers.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Ability to work with supervision to realize company goals.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous machining experience and/or trade school graduate.
Able to lift up to 35 lbs occasionally.
Stands while working – 2 hours at a time.

Responsibilities

Grinds rotary tooling to specification per work instructions.
Sets blade clearance per specifications per work instructions on both manual and CNC equipment.
Double checks clearance on roll tag.
Compares order form to work instructions to ensure clearance and proper roll is selected.
Informs department lead of all problems, crashes, or issues with the machine.
Sweeps and cleans area around machine.
Prioritizes work according to lead's instructions.
Grinds flats in roll when needed.
Maintains grinding wheel.
Maintains tooling supply.
Wears proper PPE while in work areas of the shop.
Able to measure bearer diameter with micrometer to determine taper as well as clearance.
Performs other related duties as assigned to meet departmental and Company objectives.
