About The Position

The CNC Operator I is responsible for adjusting machines to meet specified tolerances, understanding blueprints, and using precision measuring devices. This role involves planning machining operations by studying work orders, blueprints, and engineering plans, and ensuring adherence to international standards. The operator will maintain specifications by observing operations, taking measurements, troubleshooting processes, and maintaining equipment through preventive maintenance. Communication and documentation are key, as is maintaining continuity between shifts. The role also requires continuous learning and contributing to organizational goals by adding value to job accomplishments.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in CNC machine operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret part specifications or blueprints.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Good verbal and communication skills.
  • Accurately read and interpret callipers, microammeters, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Ability to inspect and measure parts using precision instruments (callipers, micrometeors, etc).

Nice To Haves

  • Any experience with Mills, lathes, CNC machines, etc. a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Adjust the machine to attain specified tolerances.
  • Understand blueprints and be able to use a variety of precision measuring devices.
  • Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
  • Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Other duties assigned if necessary.
